This machine comes with a completely documented history. There are early
photographs of the first owner who attached a sidecar and used the outfit for family
camping trips. The bike was later owned and restored by two Lifetime Honorary
Members of the Vincent Owners’ Club. There is hand-written correspondence
among these parties, parts invoices and notes. Idle for many years, it has been
recommissioned in Canada by Phil Mahood, a well-known Vincent restorer. Part of
this exercise was to upgrade the electrical wiring with a new harness from Rhode
Island Wiring. This electrical wiring is an exact copy of the original with all the
correct wire colors.
Overall, the machine is exceptionally original to a concours standard. Details like
original herring bone fuel lines with correctly crimpled brass ferrules stand out.
These parts are no longer available. This “as-it-left-the-factory” authenticity carries
throughout the machine. The only modern upgrade is 12-volt electrics and better
lighting. Even this is carried out sensitively with a rewound Lucas D6 generator
that is correct for the bike. Finally, this is a fully numbers-matching machine with
no clouds in that respect. There is a Dating Certificate from the Machine Registrar
of the Vincent Owners’ Club.
This is an exceptional example of a very rare Vincent, ready to be used and
enjoyed. Asking Price: $75,000 US
